Mark your calendars for this October, because that’s when we’ll likely see an almost-production-ready Toyota Supra concept make its official debut.
That’s the word from Car and Driver and Jalopnik, with both citing a report from Japan’s Best Car hinting at three new Toyota concepts likely set to debut at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show – an updated S-FR and a brand-new Corolla GTI, along with the highly anticipated Supra.
While the first two are intriguing enough on their own – the updated S-FR, a plucky little speedster we first met in 2015, and the Corolla GTI rumoured to pack a 250-horsepower turbo-four under the hood – it’s the Supra that would more than likely steal the show. If the rumours hold true, that is.
When it comes to powertrain options, our guess is as good as any, but rumours suggest a turbo-four and V6 engine options, as well as an eventual hybrid variant for the Supra, which is being jointly developed by Toyota with BMW. As for the design? Our friends at Top Speed have an idea of what the eventual production version could look like.
In any case, we’ll find out for sure when the Tokyo Motor Show kicks off on October 25.
