In spite of being hosted in the Big Three’s backyard, the key European manufacturers rolled out a parade of new vehicles. Audi led the charge with the latest SQ5 sports crossover, plus two new drop-tops in the form of the A5 and its hyper twin the S5. However, the key reveal was the Q8 Concept; it points the way to the styling language that will be rolled out across the brand and puts the luxury in luxury crossover. Rather than five or seven seats, it has but four, each of which is aimed at pampering.

BMW has the all-new 5 Series on display; it now counts the tire-shredding M550i and fuel-sipping 530e plug-in hybrid. Not to be left out, VW showed some interesting, if eclectic, concepts along with new Tiguan. Finally, Mercedes-Benz dropped the new E-Class Coupe to go along with a refreshed GLA, and yet more iterations of the AMG GT.
